Responsibilities

Quality Manager required for employment in a Global based manufacturing company in Kenfig Industrial Estate near Port Talbot

 

Salary £45,000 per annum 

 

Own transport is required as site is not near any major transport links.

 

Monday to Friday 8am - 4.30pm 

 

Must have the right to work in the uk.

 

Summary (job purpose and main contribution to business):

The role will require the individual to be responsible for leading the Quality and Continuous Improvement functions of the business, assuring the quality of our systems and products. Ensuring site compliance with various quality systems and standards, you will be familiar with the requirements of these standards (including but not limited to ISO9001, BRC, HACCP principles and others) and undertake regular audits, providing guidance to the quality department for daily activities, and leading the site in external accreditation audits.

You will identify and manage implementation of improvement activities within the manufacturing and supply chain of our products. Work closely with Production, Engineering and Supply Chain functions as well as your own department and directly with customers in order to identify root cause of defects, propose and manage the implementation of corrective actions and improvements. You will be capable of undertaking detailed analysis, producing and delivering findings to both senior managers and customers.

 

 

Essential Functions (main responsibilities):

  • Define, agree, and execute Annual Quality Plan in line with plant and divisional KPI’s, and group strategy
  • Drive a positive quality culture through shop-floor engagement and support development of Front Line Quality Leaders.
  • Develop and monitor action logs in relation to corrective and preventative actions as well as continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop the required reporting and analysis to review customer complaint data and propose and implement solutions.
  • Analyse process and product performance, on existing product and any new product introductions.
  • Implement improvement proposals and provide the necessary training to the quality, and wider teams where appropriate.
  • Undertake internal quality and hygiene audits.
  • Application of 8D problem solving tools and techniques, including Ishikawa, 5Why, Design of experiments, etc.
  • Manage and maintain all corrective actions and non-conformances identified through internal audits and controls.
  • Respond to customer complaints, including visits to customers if required and ensure any agreed actions are effectively implemented and communicated through the business.
  • Be available to travel to other Amcor sites or customer sites as needed. Some international travel may be required.
  • Promote and participate in activities that ensure the highest safety, operational, hygiene and quality standards are achieved.

Qualifications

Qualifications/skills (education, experience and skills):

  • Thorough understanding of quality management systems, HACCP principles, BRC.
  • Thorough understanding of SPC controls and techniques
  • Experience in a manufacturing-based environment.
  • Scientific Qualification at A-Level or above.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, thorough, logical, conscientious and flexible.
  • Effective communication skills (written and oral) will be essential with a good understanding of people management and customer interaction.
    Customer facing and having the ability and confidence to visit customers and discuss issues, with commercial impacts in mind.
  • Proficient at using minitab, excel and in undertaking detailed analysis.

Desireable

  •  Six Sigma or any lean qualifications
  •  Strong analytical skills
