Responsibilities

Apprenticeship/Training

 

The role of the apprentice is to learn all the skills and competencies associated with engineering.  The programme will take on a hands-on approach and be based within a classroom/ workshop environment on site at Amcor, Oakham.  Training will be a blend of classroom delivery, academy workshop activities, and evidence compiling within the Amcor factory based in Corby, which will be your home site.

 

The apprenticeship will be a Level 2 Intermediate apprenticeship for Year 1 and subject to satisfactory completion of all elements will lead to a level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship.  The scheme will comprise of the framework detailed below with the view to achieving the respective recognised qualifications:

 

Year 1             Intermediate Apprenticeship – Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprenticeship

Year 2 and 3     Advanced Apprenticeship – Level 3 Mechatronics Technician Apprenticeship

Qualifications

Entry Requirements:

 

A minimum of three GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/ 4 or above including English, Maths and a technical subject.

 

Skills/Aptitude:

 

  • Have an aptitude for science and technology
  • Effective computing, literacy and numeracy skills
  • Understand both verbal and written instructions
  • Good written communication skills in order to complete workplans
  • Display good communication skills, be friendly, polite and approachable to colleagues, managers and visitors
  • Show an ability to plan and organise daily work routines, with guidance
  • Ability to deal with changing work priorities and be willing to take on new work
  • Have the ability to deal with problems which occur within your normal working routinepositively, with the support of your line manager

Work Experience/ Placement

 

Carry out a wide range of tasks both in a team and individually to a performance standard agreed with your line manager/mentor.

Participate in the training and assessment process to develop and demonstrate a range of skills

Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety regulations and procedures

Prioritise own workload

Rotated through differing process units to gain experience of different plant & equipment to support achievement of qualifications.

 

Salary will be £15,707 per annum

Working hours can vary for apprentices and can include shifts and weekend work.
